Opening your own yoga studio is a dream come true for a lot of people. Unfortunately that dream can turn into a nightmare if you don’t create a solid foundation for your business by fully understanding your brand, who your demographic is, hiring the right management and teachers, marketing correctly, and if you’re not prepared to truly work hard. Choosing what you listen to is incredibly important, as is learning what your instincts sound like, and when to trust them.
Our time together will be spent discussing many topics like (but not limited to):
- Every decision you make regarding your new studio comes from two concepts: What’s your brand, and who’s your demographic
- How to fully realize your brand as a yoga studio, and as a lead teacher. Sifting through what other people’s opinions of your brand are
- Decide who your primary demographic is, and articulate that “person” in great detail
- Create a realistic budget forecast
- Locking up every important marketing and search engine medium
- Analyzing your studio and teachers’ online presence, and how they interconnect to get first page SEO ranking
- How to be strategic about marketing in the short-term and long-term
- Analyzing your studio website for maximum interconnection, aesthetic, and ease-of-understanding and use
- Choosing a mobile app that’s going provide actual results
- The importance of not hiring the best manager and teachers, but hiring the right manager and teachers
- Figuring out a class schedule that reaches your demographic in your community while balancing revenue and payroll
- Previous lawsuits in the yoga industry, how they affect your business model, and how to protect yourself
- Streamlining the online software you’ll be using for client management and setting up your accounting software
- Choosing the right pricing structure for your brand and demographic, along with strategic long-term price increases
- Understanding the importance of student retention rates, and even more importantly, each teacher’s student retention rate
- Formulating long-term yearly goals
- How to get to a level where it’s possible to hold several sold out teacher trainings each year
- Getting to a point where retail is actually profitable
- Deciding which daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports are important to you
- Controlling expenses, raising revenue and increasing profit
- Navigating through both useful and useless clichés like the “importance of a business plan,” “your best elevator pitch” or mass-discount sales like Groupon, etc.
